The international experience of the ILO in base of social protection shows that the successful developments on the subject are the ones which come along with an educational serious work of the concerned populations.

That is why the Network, in cooperation with the International of the Education and the ILO, wishes to give professionals of the education and to their organizations, as well as to the other actors of the social protection, the resources necessary for the development of educational strategies in the social protection field.

Several actions are in progress:

• An inventory of social protection education programmes, in order to examine both the tools and practical aspects of these programmes, and points to bear in mind as useful “good practices” for other projects
• The drafting of a background document and an advocacy document setting out the challenges, explaining why social protection education is a fundamental component of extended cover, and listing “good practices”; the document must serve as a reference for discussion and social protection education campaigns and tools
• The creation of a group of experts to give their advice and support to national or local initiatives
• The mobilisation of educational professionals and their organisations at the global level around social protection education.
