The Education and Solidarity Network was launched officially at an international conference held on 14 and 15 May 2009 in Paris.
The conference was attended by 260 participants, representing 12O organisations from 60 different countries. As the conference closed, 60 organisations from 45 countries from all five continents had confirmed their intention of joining the Network.
Through the conference participants learned about the founding organisations (MGEN, EI and AIM) and the experiences of several teachers mutuals. The strategy, objectives and missions of the Network were debated along with the working programme.
Following the conference, the inaugural General Assembly of the Network was organised in the afternoon of the 15 May and proceeded to adopt a constitution and elect an Executive Board.
