“Although, in many regions in the world, countries have made considerable progress in extending social protection, 55 per cent of the world population is still not covered. ” – Call to action concerning development of a global partnership for universal social protection, with the aim of achieving the sustainable development objectives (USP2030). During the 2019 General Assemblies of the MGEN group, activists showed their support of the International Labour Organization campaign for 2030 Universal Social Protection.

The RES was therefore present throughout the MGEN Group General Assemblies in Rennes. At the Education and Solidarity Network stand, teachers and activist members of the MGEN and partners were able to discover the activities of the RES and issues regarding education, health and solidarity at an international scale. They were also able to test their knowledge of social protection in the world and the links between health and education with a quiz.

On this occasion, the activists showed their support for the International Labour Organization campaign for Universal Social Protection in 2030. All the photos from this activity are available by following this link

100 years of social protection with the ILO: on the path towards universal social protection

In 2019, the’ILO is celebrating its 100th anniversary. Throughout the year, the centenary of the organization presents an opportunity to celebrate the advances made by ILO to extend social protection at global level, specifically through the “100 years of social protection with the ILO: on the path towards universal social protection” campaign.

The campaign is addressed to a large audience with the aim of creating a culture of social protection around the world and momentum for achieving universal social protection. This campaign is firmly rooted in the 2030 United National sustainable development goals  and encourages as wide an audience as possible to act to achieve the 1.3 SDG target for universal social protection.

The ILO is also promoting an exhibition called “100 years of social protection”, which highlights the accomplishments and history of the organisation. The exhibition was presented at the General Assembly of the Education and Solidarity Network in Bangkok
